Client Reviews

Ben Gilpin of Gil-plans Architecture was engaged by Greater Wellington Regional Council for an exciting project located in Queen Elizabeth Park. The project encompassed a new rangers office, multi-purpose community space and amenity block. The site has a rich heritage that the building had to communicate through the design, to be achieved through in-depth research and consultation with multiple stakeholders.

The delivered building, known as “Ramaroa”, has a strong narrative conveying the history of the park through its Maori, coastal and military camp design references and motifs. It has been much admired, and is seen as a great community asset, earning widespread praise from Council, its many users and the general public.

Ben was professional and approachable throughout and delivered the project from design through to completion with fantastic results. I highly recommend Ben to any potential clients and would welcome an opportunity to work with him again the future.
