Aladina Harunani heads up the experienced team at apa architects. With over 20 years of architectural experience of commercial, community and residential architectural projects in his portfolio, Aladina Harunani and his team will bring a positive, professional attitude to any development. Aladina arrived in New Zealand in 1989 on an Architectural Scholarship to Auckland University School of Architecture and excelled with First Class Honours. In 1998 he completed post graduate in Project Management papers with partial completion of Engineering Management. In 2002 he decided to step out of the architectural office and until 2006 worked on two large projects fulltime on site managing design and co-ordination whilst appreciating the day to day challenges of architectural, structural and services faced on site.
As a senior architect for some of New Zealands largest architectural businesses, Aladina Harunani was involved in notable projects including the $40 million Empire Apartments, Auckland and the $25 million Waitakere Indoor Stadium. Following a move to Rotorua in 2007, Aladina Harunani injected his love and enthusiasm for exceptional architecture into the local community.
Aladina has been involved in a huge number of Bay of Plenty projects, including the design and Project Management of the Timberlands New office building, the Rotorua Airport International Terminal, modifications to the Rotorua Library and extensions to Skyline Skyrides.
As a lead of apa Architects he has now involved with small and multimillion dollar developments in Fiji, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Rotorua and the deeper country where all the beautiful Marae sites await for revitalisation.

Grow Rotorua a CCO of Rotorua Lakes Council engaged apa Architects needing a concept building design that could address iconic attraction that included science research, showcasing the lakes, education, consultancy, testing laboratories, café and conference venue. Apa has successfully captured our vision and of the diverse group of stakeholders including Waikato University, Waiariki Polytechnic, Scion, BOP Regional Council, Rotorua Lakes Council Te Arawa Lakes Trust and Ministry for the Environment. Apa has unique skill in being able to tap into cultural and historical significance of the people and purpose of the Centre. Further they translated that understanding into a conceptual design which has not been seen before in New Zealand.
I would thoroughly recommend apa as clever outside the square thinkers who in this case were absolutely on target with what was hoped for.
