Professional membership of ADNZ is open to all self-employed architectural designers in their own practice in New Zealand.
Full Professional membership offers a range of benefits, including:
Members enter as Probationary members. Prospective Probationary members complete an application form and are assessed by an initial interview by their regional branch before formal approval for membership by the ADNZ National Executive. Probationary membership is a pathway towards full Professional membership.
After 12 months Probationary members are expected to upgrade t0 Associate membership by submitting a portfolio of design and consent documentation for assessment and to demonstrate they meet ADNZ's competency standards. Mentorship by senior members is offered to assist Probationary members meet these standards.
Members stay as Associate members for 12 months. After this time they may be automatically upgraded to full Professional or may have to demonstrate they meet any competency standards identified by the National Upgrade Assessment Committee.
Architectural designers who hold a senior position in a Professional member's design practice, or a senior position in an allied industry organisation or field, may apply to become a Colleague member.
Technician membership is available for employees of architectural design practices or students.
Members join their local ADNZ regional branch. There are nine regions, namely:
- Auckland/Northland
- Bay of Plenty
- Waikato
- Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay
- Taranaki/Manawatu/Wanganui
- Wellington
- Nelson/Marlborough
- Canterbury/Westland
- Otago/Southland
Meetings are held monthly in each of the branches.
Full Professional membership offers a range of benefits, including:
- Affiliation with a national professional body which represents the interests of architectural designers
- Government representation of behalf of the membership
- Networking opportunities between other architectural designers and industry associates
- Continuing Professional Development programme, including monthly branch meetings, seminars and national conference,

FEES
New Member application and assessment fee payable on application to ADNZ $350 plus GST
Annual National Subscription Fees for 2007/2008
National subscription fees are as follows. All fees are payable by all members for the full financial year from 1 August to 31 July.
Subcription invoices are sent out in November of each year following the ADNZ AGM for payment to be made in full by 20 December.
New Members joining mid-year are invoiced pro-rata for their first year.
Professional Member $550.00 plus GST Associate Member $550.00 plus GST Probationary Member $350.00 plus GST Colleague Member $400.00 plus GST Technician Member $150.00 plus GST
Plus:
Annual Branch subscription fee for all membership categories (except Technician) $150.00 plus GST
Upgrade Fee
After 12 months of Probationary membership, upgrade to Associate member $500 plus GST
